Writing your own content

Writing your own content on this site couldn’t be easier. Instead of having to email somebody to ask them to upload the latest race result, or a news article you simply log in to your site, click the “Write” tab and then fill in the information. The “Write” page has a Word-like interface so you simply type your content in, add links or images and hit the publish button.

This image (click it for a larger view) shows the site dashboard, this is the page you arrive at after logging in.

By clicking the Write tab you are able to publish new content to the site. The “Manage” tab will take you to posts and pages you have already created so that you can edit them.

This next image shows you the “Write” page, where you will input the information you want to publish to the site.

As you can see it is pretty self-explanatory, you would fill in the title of your post, then type everything into the text editor much like Microsoft Word. If you were to take a site it would come with instructions on using the admin area, uploading photos, using the gallery etc.

Why own a website?

Whilst the internet cannot be the only means for communications and publicity, a website is an effective and low cost method for telling people about yourself, your racing team and your current progress any time of the day anywhere in the world. And unlike printed information it can be easily kept up to date.

A website will allow people to discover:

when your races are
what your recent results were
your career history and future plans
how to contact you,
how to, and the benefits of, sponsoring you
and much more

The internet is changing the way we publish and find information in the same way that the invention of printing did 500 years ago.

Your web site is a notice board that can be seen the world over. It can be aimed both at those who attend races and have met you in person and at those who don’t but have an interest.
